AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE HISTOLOGIC CHANGES OF DENTAL PULP TO THERMAL IRRITATION

Abstract
The author studied the histologic changes of the dental pulp of dog¢¥s teeth to thermal irritation.
The results were as follows:
1) There were mild inflammatory reactions such as interodontoblastic vacuolization, hyperemia and inflammatory cell infiltration to thermal irritation by water of 50¡É.
2) There were mild inflammatory reactions such as decrease in thickness of predentin, pyknosis of odontoblast, reticular atrophy of pulp, and dilatation and congestion of vessels to thermal irritation by water of 90¡É.
3) There were more severe changes such as decrease or loss in thickness of predentin, vacuolization of odontoblastic layer and reticular atrophy of pulp tissue to thermal irritiation by glycerine of 120¡É than that by water of 90¡É.
4) There were destruction of predentin and odontoblastic layer, severe reticular atrophy and edematous changes of pulp tissue by thermal irritation of glycerine of 150¡É.
